Enhydro Agate Wire Wrap

Hand-wrapped with 24-36in. of .999 fine silver wire by Jim Rice. Formed in the same volcanic conditions that produce its more well-known cousins, geodes, this remarkable specimen bears one striking difference. In a geode the bubble of water around which the stone is formed dissipates prior to enclosure, leaving a hollow space; but in this enhydro agate, the water remained long enough to become trapped inside. When a flashlight is held behind this piece, the small amount of water can be seen moving as the agate is gently rocked back and forth. The water in this specimen can best be seen in the lower half of the stone. Semi-translucent and predominantly cream- and chocolate-brown, this remarkable pendant presents the rare opportunity not only to admire a piece of natural history but to wear it too. 73mm x 32mm x 23mm thickness.
